Some interesting facts about this website!

  • This website was created in May of 1998 as an experiment for our Local in cyberspace
  • The site is compiled, edited, and generated with NetObjects Fusion 3.0 for Macintosh. Final tweaking of the pages including Javascript insertion and HTML code verification is done in BBEdit 5.0.
  • All image editing is done in Thorsten Lemke's GraphicConvertor 9.2 for Macintosh A few images were edited in Photoshop 5.5. In addition the following programs are used for various tasks: Adobe Acrobat 4.0.2, Adobe Illustrator 8.0, Microsoft Office 2004, VistaScan 3.0 with Twain Acquire, Persistance of Vision Ray Tracing 5.0,

  • Our site's registered domain name is WWW.IALOCAL48.COM. Even though I.A.T.S.E. Local 48 Akron is a non-profit organization and qualifies for the .ORG domain, it was felt the .COM domain was more familiar to the public. We currently have this domain name secured through August of 2010!
  • The purpose of this website is and has always been to serve the information needs of Local 48 and our clients. It gives us the opportunity to explore how the Internet can make our work easier and enhance our on-the-job performance. The website is updated constantly and changes with the needs of the Local.
